Skived Fins

Skived fins are a type of heat sink fin that are used in server coolers to improve heat dissipation. They are made by cutting a series of thin slots in a metal plate, which creates a series of raised fins. These fins increase the surface area of the heat sink, which allows it to more effectively transfer heat to the surrounding air.

Material preparation: The metal plate is cut to the desired size and shape
Slot cutting: A series of thin slots are cut in the metal plate, creating the skived fins
Deburring: The edges of the slots are deburred to remove any sharp edges
Finishing: The fins are cleaned and finished
Assembly: The fins are attached to the heat sink base

Skived Heat Sink Benefits/Features

  • Perfect conductivity between base and fins
  • The thermal conductivity is superior to the traditional extrusion and bonded fin process
  • High fin densities
  • Great forced airflow solution
  • Skived heat sink can be double-sided like for flexible core heat exchanger tubes
